Why Workshops?
REX Workshops are designed to work with your management team. Over 200 chief executives participate in twenty-four Executive Roundtables that REX leaders chair in the US, Australia, and New Zealand. These Roundtables are a premier, executive development program as evidenced by the extraordinarily high participation and loyalty of busy leaders. They enable high level problem solving and cutting edge education.
The intensity and insights of the REX Roundtables are difficult for the participants to take back home to their management teams. With a decade of experience chairing Roundtables, I estimate that ten percent of the members regularly take home powerful insights, methods and tools from their Roundtables and successfully implement them in their organizations. Seventy percent have modest success back home and a final twenty percent have little.
The challenge is how to convert an executive decision or insight into an implemented improvement in the organization. The answers to this question have emerged over several decades of efforts to change and improve organizations. The elements of this answer are:
- CEO builds and leads a core team committed to change: The Getting Better Team
- CEO creates and maintains a climate of urgency in the Core Team.
- Core Team keeps change efforts focused.
- Core Team clarifies the reasons and necessity for the changes.
- Core Team persists by reviewing progress; the regular identification and removal of barriers; acknowledging and celebrating progress.
REX Workshops are designed to close the gap between ideas, insights and decisions created in a Roundtable and their successful execution through a Core Team back home. These workshops can accelerate, deepen and embed your efforts to improve your organization.
Available Workshops
REX has delivered over three hundred workshops to executives in thirty four industries in nine countries. Although many of these are custom designed there are a number which have been requested over and over.
Team Works: Builds the executive team's ability to deliver bottom line results. The focus is on enabling the members to more constructively engage in productive, collegial dialogue to design good decisions with the highest commitment and accountability. A one day seven hour workshop gets the team started. A four to six month follow up plan with resources and suggested agendas is provided. The implementation can be accelerated with two consecutive day workshops. This workshop clears the air and gets the team focused on the right things. Fee is $3,000 USD plus materials and assessments which run about $40 per person. This workshop can accommodate up to about twenty people in one to three teams. Two companies can share the fee.
Conflict Style Workshop: Each participant's style of conflict is assessed and shared. Its impact on their life and the teams' work is explored. Individual role play experimenting with new styles. This includes assessment of up to ten participants and the preparation of reports. This compliments the Team Works Workshop and is an excellent follow up. Fee $2,500 as a stand alone six hour workshop.
Great Meetings: How to have the best meetings. Trains meeting leaders in the process of facilitating a group meeting and leading a constructive problem solving and decision making process. This involves extensive role playing and case studies. Two days. Fee is $5,500. Plus $40 per participant for materials. This workshop can accommodate up to thirty people. Two companies can share the fee. This can be broken into two sections: Great Meetings Workshop and the Problem Solving Team Workshop.
Getting To Prime: Organizational Diagnosis And Improvement: Includes a comprehensive surfacing of potential areas of improvement in all parts of the organization; an organization analysis of your culture as it is and should be; determination of the organization's developmental stage and aging factors; and clarification of key barriers to progress. In the process the air is cleared, energy released, and focus and commitment is developed. Accommodates up to thirty people. Depending on the number of people involved, this requires two to three days. Workshop fee is $8,000 plus diagnostic materials and handouts. This is the basic training and work for MANAGING TO PRIME based on the work of Ichak Adizes.
Getting Better Team Workshop (GBTW): This often follows the Getting To Prime Workshop or a Retreat or any other REX Workshop. The GBTW is an ongoing, internal Roundtable for the CEO and his direct reports, thus the agenda is highly customized and evolved according to the organization's needs and development. The GBT is the primary strategy for internal change and improvement vs. operations. It is the most sophisticated and effective way for working 'ON' your business vs. 'IN' your business. Generally the GBTW occurs from one to six times a year depending on the size of the organization, the complexity of its business model, the sophistication of its products and services and the leaders desired rate of improvement.
Hiring: Upgrade your hiring process. Presents the incredible value of hiring right, orienting right and then developing your people. Common errors are exposed. Your current system is critiqued by us and you. The REX Seven Element Hiring System is presented and we jointly customize it for your organization. You will role play the entire process. Two to three days at separate times. Fee $8,000.
Corporate Retreats: Custom designed working retreats of a handful to over 200 participants to launch new directions, change structures, systems and cultures are available. Length varies for less than a day to a week.

I can see a greatly streamlined and efficiently running organization resulting from this, with much less unproductive conflict between different groups and departments.

One of the best problem solving seminars I have ever attended. I've been to (a well known problem seminar) and found this more enjoyable and more real world.

This workshop has given us a whole new approach to problem solving. Our task teams are solving problems and coming up with solutions.

This technology is going to be really useful in bringing different viewpoints and different professional training together to better focus our energy and resources in the museum.
Director, Mid-size Museum
The most useful training I have received in years. I have attended many programs that discuss changing the corporate culture. This workshop was the only one that I've seen that actually provided real, practical tools to allow that change to occur.
