Justin started in the fitness industry in 1989 as gym instructor and personal trainer after receiving his BS in Physical and Health Education. Believing he had a future in the fitness industry as a personal trainer he started work for Jamie Hayes' health club chain Body Express, where personal training became a memory as he progressed into sales and finally management.
His burning ambition saw him open Active Fitness Centre in 1993. In 2003, with challenges to the lease, he came to an amicable arrangement with Fitness First and Active Fitness Centre closed. Currently, he owns and manages Active Health Club a 300 square metre facility in North Ryde.
Justin was the last President of the NSW Fitness Centres Association, the Interim and then Inaugural President of Fitness NSW and also Vice President of Fitness Australia.
Justin is also the Managing Director of Active Management. This company help clubs in their marketing and management systems. He manages and facilitates 2 Australian and New Zealand Fitness Roundtables; has lectured for the Australian Institute of Fitness in the Certificate IV Course: Fitness Business for the past 3 years; presented at Filex since 1998 including running the successful Fitness Centre Management Summit for the past 3 years; and was our facilitator for the Business Summit last year.
It is not all fitness for Justin! He is a keen rugby supporter and now coach. The hi-light being last year when his 4th Grade Eastwood side won the premiership, after loosing just one game all season. This year he was the Skills Coach for NSW Country Under 20 side and his 3rd Grade side this year sits on top of the table with just one loss!
Justin is driven by ambition, passion and emotion, so you won't be surprised that an objective in life for him is to "To increase the number of people exercising, so that there is less strain and financial burden on the Australian health system meaning future generations can enjoy the awesome life and opportunities that Australia offers."
